KFI staff are in training to run dental studies as per the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) standards. The VOHC oversees and approves dental products aimed at reducing build-up of plaque and tartar on teeth. Dr. Andrew Oster DVM, Director of Animal Health at KFI who is leading the veterinary team, is excited about developing this expertise and being able to offer this new service to clients. “The majority of pets over 3 years of age are affected by dental disease, most often found as pain and infection of the teeth and surrounding tissues as plaque and tartar worsen. Owners are eager to seek out preventive care options so their pets can avoid the discomfort, health concerns, and costs related to dental disease. To be able to support clients by providing studies that can bring VOHC products to market is an immense opportunity to improve the health and welfare of the companion animal population”
